Description
Urban Mayhem is a first-person shooter (FPS) video game featuring a cartoon-inspired visual style and low-poly assets. Set in a city overrun by zombies, the game combines intense action with a playful and exaggerated artistic direction that prioritizes fun over realism.

Players must survive against waves of zombies that increase in number and difficulty over time. Within a limited movement area, the player must defend themselves using shooting mechanics while collecting essential items needed to survive. The main objective is to stay alive as long as possible and accumulate points while facing the challenges of this chaotic world.

Key Features

  • Player: The protagonist can move within a defined area, shoot to eliminate zombies, and collect key items such as ammunition refills and health packs that help withstand enemy attacks.
  • Enemies: The zombies feature stylized and exaggerated designs, each with unique characteristics such as speed, damage, and health, adding variety and strategy to the gameplay.
  • Objects: Resources such as ammunition and health packs are designed with eye-catching shapes and colors so players can easily identify them within the map.
  • Visual Style: The environments and characters feature a cartoon-inspired design with exaggerated proportions and vibrant colors, creating a unique and lighthearted visual experience.
  • Sound and Music: Sound effects and music reinforce the game’s tense yet fun atmosphere, keeping players immersed in the action.
  • Objective: Survive as long as possible to accumulate points while facing increasingly challenging waves of enemies.

Programming and Technical Development

As a Unity programmer, I was responsible for implementing the game’s core mechanics:

  • Player: Development of the protagonist’s movement, shooting system, and health management.
  • Enemies: Implementation of artificial intelligence for the zombies, allowing them to detect the player, move dynamically, and attack. Each zombie has specific attributes such as speed, damage, and health.
  • Objects: Programming gameplay mechanics for collecting ammunition and health packs, integrating them as key elements for the player’s survival.

Art and Design

In the artistic area, I worked as an Environment Artist and 3D Modeler. I designed and built stylized urban environments filled with cartoon-inspired details and exaggerated objects.

  • I created several low-poly models that matched the game’s lighthearted and fun visual style.
  • I selected and optimized additional assets to complement the environments and characters.
  • I ensured the game’s visual consistency, making sure all elements worked together within a stylized yet immersive cartoon aesthetic.

The included images showcase examples of the map, enemies, and key environmental elements. They reflect the game’s artistic style, focused on exaggerated proportions and a fun visual approach, creating a striking experience with a strong identity.

Urban Mayhem is a team-developed project that combines programming, artistic design, and creativity to create a unique FPS video game with a stylized cartoon-inspired aesthetic and challenging gameplay. The collaborative work between the different disciplines helped shape a dynamic and cohesive experience, where each team member contributed essential ideas and skills throughout the entire development process.

This project reflects our ability to conceptualize and develop stylized video games that stand out through originality, attention to detail, and a strong creative direction at every stage of production.
